I am currently working with a 20 year old girl that has cerebral palsy, but I am looking for something closer to home for me. I have worked as a caregiver off and on ever since I graduated high school. In my current position, I prepare all of her meals and help feed her if she needs help. I take her to the bathroom, give her her meds, dress and bathe her, brush her teeth. I take her to all of her doctor appointments as well as her OT and PT and anywhere else she would like to go. - I have been a nurse for 19 years. Over 4 years ago I opened a private home in a local neighborhood to care for the elderly in a small home setting. ALL levels of care are accepted including assisted living and total care and Hospice patients. We are a Christian home, but all faiths are lovingly welcomed! Anything that is done in a nursing home or assisted living facility can be done in a private home including physical therapy, occupational therapy, and even IV therapy. There is a traveling Doctor that visits and accepts Medicare too! Residents are never left alone and are cared for in a quaint loving home environment and not in an institution. They are closely monitored and are not exposed to all the germs and possible infections of a large facility. Care is tailored for each individual and flexible to the residents personal preferences and needs.
